eCIR is INE’s incident response certification, and it runs the opposite way round to the offensive exams on this site. You are handed evidence rather than a target: logs, captures and host artefacts from an intrusion that already happened, and you have to reconstruct it and write it up.
Most candidates lose eCIR on the write-up, not the analysis. Finding the malicious process is the easy half; presenting a timeline that a reader can follow, with the evidence attached to each claim, is what the grader is actually marking.
